Fee Includes:<\/strong> \u00a0<\/strong>White Water rigged canoe, safety equipment, paddles, pfd, helmet<\/p>\n

Prerequisite<\/span>:\u00a0<\/strong> ORCKA Basic Canoeing level, equivalent certification or comparable skills and experience or with the permission of the Course Director- Judy Kirkwood.\u00a0 Physically fit, good swimmer<\/span><\/p>\n

River Running Level 1A or 1B provides an introduction to whitewater paddling for those with little or no experience in whitewater. Emphasis is on tandem canoeing skills, or solo skills, understanding whitewater principles and safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

River Running has a central focus on the development of whitewater tripping skills.\u00a0River Running skills include paddling moving water, the strategy, leadership and the safe management of the flow of the group through or around the rapids and other obstacles encountered while on the river journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note:<\/span><\/u><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0The skill sets and manoeuvres are fundamentally the same as Moving Water Level 1A skills, and thus the ORCKA Canoeing Program recognizes and accepts the parallel skills courses as acceptable prerequisites for a higher skill level course in the alternate discipline.<\/span><\/p>\n

River Running Level 1A (Tandem) or Moving Water Level 1A (tandem)<\/strong> is a <\/span>prerequisite for Canoe Tripping Level 3 (Leader), and Canoe Tripping Instructor 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n

River Running Level 1 (tandem and solo) are a prerequisite for Canoe Tripping Instructor 2\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
